About Feel Old Yet?

Feel Old Yet? is a small site that answers one question: how old are you, really? Type your birthday and it shows you the famous things you're older than, the moment in history you were born closer to than today, and your next big milestone.

How the math works

Everything runs in your browser. When we say you were born closer to something than to today, we check that it's true for every possible birthday you could have entered. If you only give a year, we assume the worst case for that year so the claim still holds.

Things you're older than are things whose earliest possible date comes after your birthday. If something happened in your birth year and you didn't enter a month and day, we leave it out rather than guess.

Where the dates come from

Our timeline has 370 dates, from inventions and brands to movies, games and world events. Each one was checked against public sources, mainly Wikipedia and official company histories. When sources disagree on a date, we either use the one most sources agree on or leave the item out.

World population figures and age estimates are rounded from United Nations World Population Prospects estimates. Heartbeats, breaths and sleep are rough averages, meant for fun rather than precision.
